about
I originally wrote this song on guitar, sitting in my bathroom late at night, where the acoustics vibrate bright. But one night I was hanging out with my good friend and jazz pianist Tigran Hamasyan in his studio in Venice. When I showed him the song, he suddenly started playing it in the vibe of the old Vaudville or Ragtime style...I was in love. We all hit the studio a week later and recorded the song in two takes. Wham bam, thank you Tigran!

lyrics
I Instead
Hey now, did you really believe him when he said?
He would buy you forever, you’re deserted and he’s dead
And standing here, I instead.
Sweet girl, do you want to start it all over do you think?
I’m downright down without you, want to kiss you or buy you a drink
Into the night we will sink
I tried to find your cloudy mind
You’re far from what I need
And so I joined this rockin’ band
And I’m singing out of key, and making it bleed
