about

The first verse of this ballad was written on a sunny Saturday morning back in 2002. I felt that the melody was special but I was unable to finish the rest of the song until about seven years later. The idea was inspired my one of my great heros, George Harrison and the ancient Indian concept of "The Art Of Dying".
Our producer Matt Pszonak and I arranged all the string section and the orchestra parts over a late night session. It was our first time arranging for an eight piece string section. I think we did well...

lyrics

Death Won’t Hurt

I don’t think that death would hurt
To swim eternally without a shirt
So leave your body far behind
You’re the only one who'll come and save me
from being alone out there

My blood and bones have always been my curse
I lived my whole life just to fear the worst
So leave your body far behind
You’re the only one who'll come and save me
from being alone out there

I’d like to sit here daydreaming and wonder where I’m going
And I’d like to swim in your blue velvet sea…

I’ll never claim that life deserted me
I figured things would land where they should be
So leave your body far behind
You’re the only one who'll come and save me
from being alone out there

I’d like to sit here daydreaming and wonder where I’m going
It’s a bigger understanding... the mystery’s unveiling
And I want to swim in your blue velvet sea
