about

This song is one of the first that I wrote before the band even existed. It was born from an Indian Raga line that I composed on an "Open G' tuned guitar, which prevails in the intro and onward. I came up with the words standing in a long line at the supermarket.
I put it together in a park by my house sitting on a frosty bench at 6 or 7 in the morning after an all night bender.
We recorded it with the first incarnation of The Dirty Diamond band on our first short album, but our producer Matt Pzsonak wanted to redo it for the new album, because he heard us play it live and he thought he could do a better job and serve it more justice. He was right =)

lyrics

Dirty Diamond

The only crime is killing time
Time is money, money’s wine
Wine has got my lover blind
I drink a bottle and think of how
I’ve stayed in one place far too long

Going to walk a thousand miles
Just to see your crooked smiles
I’d love to love you for a while
Girl you’ve got me singing how
It feels so right, it can’t be wrong

I’ve waited my whole life to see this happen
Finally found my Dirty Diamond
It’s not for sale…no, it’s a keeper
First you sow and then you reap her

I’ve climbed mountains to see this happen
Finally found my Dirty Diamond
It’s not for sale…no, it’s a keeper
First you sow and then you reap her

You’re meant to be my better half
There’s a treasure in your laugh
So cut me with your butter knife
I love you baby more than life
You’re my soul and on my mind

I’ve waited my whole life to see this happen
Finally found my Dirty Diamond
It’s not for sale…no, it’s a keeper
First you sow and then you reap her

I’ve climbed mountains to see this happen
Finally found my Dirty Diamond
It’s not for sale…no, it’s a keeper
First you sow and then you reap her
