about

I wrote this song over a two week period, also on a twelve string acoustic guitar in some cluttered Hollywood apartment room of my ex girlfriend back in 2005. It came out of a frustrated space of feeling like communication wires were down regarding some of my relations. I remember Narek (our bass/piano player) coming over one night and helping me a bit with the "Beach Boys" style chorus and harmonies.
This song was recorded over three years ago, but our producer Matt Pszonak decided to remix it and put it on this album, since it was floating around like an orphan and was not on any other album. Good move Matt...thanx!

lyrics

Glass Ceiling

It is my understanding that you really misunderstood me
Wide open spaces replaced with a sheet of glass ceiling
You’ve made up your mind and you’re on your own track
Listen up now cos I know you ain't coming back for me
The difference now’s in how you see

Gratification is on a vacation this morning
When I was calling you on in it you bought it and pawned it that evening
The difference between us should do and should die
Cos why should I bother to ever try to make you see
The friends you know that we could be...yeah

It’s my therapy, cos I’m flat broke and I can’t afford the fee
It’s my destiny, cos someone locked the door and lost the key

Your manipulation has caused an irritation in my mind
And I’m looking for truth so I’m leaving your bullshit behind
The secrets between us should do and should die
Cos why should I bother to ever try to make you see
The friends you know that we could be...yeah

It’s my therapy, cos I’m flat broke and I can’t ford the fee
It’s my destiny, cos someone locked the door and lost the key
